05 Apr Addressing Adrenal Fatigue with Acupuncture and Alternative Medicine
Adrenal fatigue implies that a person has lost their ability to fully rest, restore and rejuvenate.
It is as if the nervous system is always ‘on’ and the person has is in able to shut off the incessant mental chatter, worry, stress or anxiety of daily life.
The main symptoms of adrenal fatigue include: exhaustion, feeling wiped out with walking, restless sleep, irritability, low back pain, depression, nervousness, anxiety, women may experience hormonal problems, weight gain or sluggish metabolism, food cravings or other addictions and various other symptoms.
The key question is, what is causing this pattern and, more importantly, what is the cure?
In my experience, most people have adrenal fatigue or weakness because they are using excessive amounts of will power to get through life. It’s like at constant swim upstream and fighting against life. They push and work too hard, rest too little, and have a ‘to do’ list a mile long. This comes from outward pressure but the real root cause is more of an inner dynamic.
Stress has a direct correlation to a person being on their life’s path or not. When they feel stressed it’s most likely that they are fighting again themselves sand their true desires. In this day and age, many people are disconnected from their true purpose for being alive. Because of this, they don’t know themselves on a deeply intimate level, which causes them to make decisions that lead to distress and distraction.
Generally speaking, adrenal weakness is as much of a spiritual issue as it is a mental one. If the root cause isn’t addressed, then the person can use all the supplements in the world or alternatively, receive acupuncture 3 times a week and it will only have a palliative effect.
This is not to say that certain forms of alternative medicine will not help adrenal weakness. It help an individual make some progress. I have used acupuncture as a standalone to kickstart someone’s adrenal function in a way that is very powerful for certain individuals. But by far, the patients who make the most progress are the ones who are willing to do the work and are compliant and motivated to make the lifestyle changes necessary to live in balance.
